The program I used to make the website wouldn't allow the bar to the left accommodate the full spelling of the word "Questions"! As you can see, there is more than one question that is frequently asked.
Are the fabrics certified organic?
Natural
Slipcovers carries a line of fabric suitable for slipcovers that is made
from certified, organic cotton. The colors in the patterns are the
natural colors of cotton: cream, shades of taupe and brown, and a
beautiful muted green. No chemicals are used in the processing. From
another company I can offer organic cotton fabric that has been dyed
with an "earth-friendly" dying process.
The
hemp fabrics are grown without herbicides, fungicides, or pesticides.
They are not certified organic, but are available un-dyed as well as
unbleached. Additionally they are naturally resistant to mould.
Are the slipcovers washable?
That
depends. Most fabrics will shrink when washed. They may also change
in texture. Often the washed appearance is more beautiful than the way
the fabric looked before washing. If you plan to wash your slipcover
Natural Slipcovers highly recommends that the fabric be pre-washed prior
to cutting. Call for an appointment to view pre-washed and un-washed
organic cottons and hemps.
What options are there for musty, mouldy furniture?
If
you have allergies to mould and mildew and your furniture smells musty,
you may prefer to have your furniture reupholstered first. The old
straw and musty cotton batting can be replace with (non-organic, 100%
synthetic) polyester batting and new (non-organic, petro-chemical-based,
100% synthetic) foam. These options may not be the best for the
world's environment, but they may make your home environment a healthier
place for you if your allergies are primarily to organic matter
(dander, mould, dust). To minimize dust and animal dander washable
slipcovers can be made to go over the re-furbished furniture.
