Natural Slipcovers
Who am I?

Thank you for clicking on my  web page which once included my old business,  Jean Hutchins Upholstery, Inc. as well as my current business, Natural Slipcovers.

Over the last 16 years I have met many wonderful people through the craft and art of reupholstering furniture both in Nova Scotia and subsequently in North Carolina.  In 2011 I moved to the  Camden-Rockport-Rockland area of Maine.

Sadly reupholstering furniture took a toll on the joints in my hands.  I now limit my practice to making slipcovers and doing other projects that are easier on my hands like custom-making and covering cushions.  Fortunately, thanks to the wide variety of my customer's furniture and their fabric choices I continue to enjoy  the very challenging and creative work of making slipcovers.

Knowing that this change was inevitable, a few years ago I  started Natural Slipcovers, a company that promotes the use of earth friendly and organic fabricsfor the construction of slipcovers.

As I planned my move to the Coast of Maine in 2011,  I decided to primarily focus on custom-made slipcovers, cushions, and pillows.

In my portfolio you can see the care and attention to detail that go into the work I do:  this hasn't changed now that the covers I make for furniture are removable.
